EpiSurveyor: Truly Global

EpiSurveyor: Truly Global

Thanks to Google Analytics, we're now much better able to see who's accessing EpiSurveyor.org and from where, and this new data confirms what we'd suspected all along (and supports info provided by users during the registration process): EpiSurveyor is truly a global phenomenon.

Have a look at the table, which shows the 30 most common locations from which people log into EpiSurveyor (top left is most common, read down the first column, then down second column, then third):

Nairobi, Kenya London, UK Alexandria, VA
Washington, DC Johannesburg, South Africa Bhubaneswar, India
Guatemala City Nashville, TN Lima, Peru
Gaborone, Botswana Bamako, Mali Gualala, CA
Arlington, VA Lusaka, Zambia Calcutta, India
Accra, Ghana Waterloo, Canada Djibouti
New York Stanford, CA Buenos Aires, Argentina
Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania Addis Ababa, Ethiopia Apia, Samoa
Moscow San Jose, Costa Rica Atlanta, GA
Kampala, Uganda Hyderabad, India Geneva, Switzerland

Talk about global reach! Even allowing for the fact that most of EpiSurveyor's developers are in Nairobi, and DataDyne also maintains a Washington, DC office . . . look at the range. From Stanford, California to Apia, Samoa, to Calcutta to Kampala, to San Jose -- and all based on the hard work of our teams in Nairobi, Kenya and Washington, DC.

As we move to add versions of EpiSurveyor.org in multiple languages and alphabets, I'm sure we'll see this broaden even more, but this is a great first step in creating a true worldwide web application for public health and for mobile data collection in general.
